Young Adult

YA Books

YA is definitely having a moment. Maybe you can pin it on the influx of movies that have come out in recent years. From Harry Potter to the Hunger Games, Twilight to Divergent, the common thread between these films is that they are based on books. And some very good ones at that.

The current cool kid is easily John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. The accompanying film recently debuted at number one and book sales have benefited as a result. While the logic here is cyclical – book was good and popular enough make a movie, movie was good and popular enough to sell books – the fact remains that it’s a good read.

Just don’t let the label deter you. Admittedly, I had some issues diving into the YA world, but once I got there, it’s hard to imagine a world without. These authors and the stories they weave have the ability to pull at heart strings or bring up feelings long forgotten. Here are some of my favorites.
